£3,000-a-day cost of giving every Channel migrant new clothes

It costs more than £3,000 a day to taxpayers to provide new clothes and shoes to illegal Channel migrants. People arriving at Dover have been handed free clothes and shoes at a cost of just under £4 million over the past three years. The figures, obtained under Freedom of Information laws, have prompted calls for migrants to be required to reimburse the taxpayer if they are subsequently allowed to stay in the UK.
