Manchester, August 2024 – This September, Shakespeare’s timeless tale of ambition, betrayal, and power gets a gritty 90s Manchester twist with the launch of *Mancbeth*. Set against the pulsating backdrop of the city’s legendary club scene, *Mancbeth* is an electrifying fusion of theatre, music, and social commentary that promises to be a cultural event like no other.
**An Immersive Experience at Band on the Wall**
On September 14th, the iconic *Band on the Wall* in Manchester’s Northern Quarter will host a groundbreaking event that brings *Mancbeth* to life. This immersive experience features a live performance of *The Mancbeth Album* by *Octavia Freud & The Weird Sisters*, a project spearheaded by musician Octavia Freud and scriptwriter David Lemberg. The album reimagines the classic Shakespearean narrative through the eyes of a DJ at *Glam-iz*, a fictional rave club owned by the central characters, *Mancbeth* and *Lady M*.
The evening will be a sensory feast, blending electronic music with compelling theatre, transporting audiences to the hedonistic yet cutthroat world of 90s Manchester nightlife. As part of this unique event, attendees can also look forward to performances by *Rowetta*, the iconic voice of the *Happy Mondays*, and *Shadowplay*, a *Joy Division* tribute band endorsed by *Peter Hook*. Legendary *Haçienda* DJ *Jon Dasilva* will also be spinning tracks that defined the era, ensuring an unforgettable night.
**Building Towards a Big Screen Adaptation**
While the September 14th event is a precursor to something even larger—a feature film adaptation of *Mancbeth*—the movie, set for a big screen release in the second quarter of 2026
