Professional “Rolex robbers” are targeting wealthy tourists in European holiday destinations to steal luxury watches, often for organised crime gangs. Sir Ben Ainslie was robbed at knifepoint in Barcelona last week, losing a €20,000 Rolex. Presumably it was a Mariner.
Spanish police, in collaboration with Italian, French, and German counterparts, have arrested 35 suspects since March, with Europol forming a special unit to address these thefts.
