Several of the world’s biggest carmakers lobbied the UK government to try to weaken or delay rules aimed at accelerating electric car sales and reducing carbon emissions in Britain. Toyota, Jaguar Land Rover, and Nissan were among the companies calling for delays in the implementation of the zero-emission vehicle ZEV mandate that forces them to sell increasing proportions of electric cars or face heavy fines, accord. However, Volkswagen, Ford, and Tesla argued that the ZEV mandate should be stricter.
