UK high street footfall suffered its largest slump since the onset of the pandemic after severe storms deterred shoppers. February saw a 6.2% year-on-year decline, this contrasted with the 2.3% drop recorded in January. The British Retail Consortium (BRC) reported that visits to retail parks and shopping centres were also down. Helen Dickinson, CEO of the BRC, blamed the wet weather and early month train strikes for the reduction.
