We have simply re-run this post from The Free Speech Union from Linkedin:
A man has been arrested in Manchester after a video appeared to show him burning pages of the Quran. He remains in custody, reportedly on suspicion of a “racially aggravated public order offence”.
England abolished its blasphemy laws in 2008 — yet this arrest raises serious free speech concerns. Burning a religious text, however provocative, is not incitement under the Public Order Act 1986.
If you are this man or know him, please get in touch. The Free Speech Union stands ready to help.
