Sir Mark Rowley, the Metropolitan police commissioner, stated officers should avoid “policing toxic culture war debates.” This follows the arrest of comedy writer Graham Linehan at Heathrow Airport on Monday after arriving from Arizona. Linehan, known for co-creating Father Ted, was detained by five armed officers for allegedly inciting violence through social media posts. Rowley criticised the legal constraints compelling police investigations into Linehan’s tweets.
