Fudging the figures.

The NHS plans to cut 300,000 people from its hospital waiting lists to reduce unnecessary appointments. Hospitals will receive payments to review and clean up their lists, identifying patients who can be treated elsewhere or do not need specialist consultations. This action follows NHS England’s internal analysis, which revealed that the backlog is affected by unnecessary appointments. The waiting list currently includes 7.43 million people, with updated figures expected soon.
