The hospitality sector is concerned about the impact of Labour’s first budget in 14 years, which was announced by Chancellor Rachel Reeves. UK Hospitality estimates that increased national insurance contributions and a minimum wage rise will cost an extra £2,500 per employee annually. Industry leaders, including Tim Martin of JD Wetherspoon, warn of price hikes, while a letter to Reeves claims the measures could cause “unprecedented damage” to the sector.
