Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi selling their UK farm for $30M less than a year after move
Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi have listed their Cotswolds estate in the United Kingdom for a staggering $30 million, less than a year after purchasing and relocating to the property. The couple originally bought the 18th-century farmhouse, known as Kitesbridge, in early 2024 for around $20 million.
The 43-acre estate, located in a scenic part of the English countryside, underwent a swift and meticulous renovation that involved more than 70 workers and was completed in just under five months—an impressive feat for a project that was expected to take at least 18 months. The revamped home boasts a six-bedroom main residence, a two-bedroom guest cottage, a heated five-car garage, a gym, a party barn with a pub, and an indoor pool, all set against manicured gardens and pastoral views.
Despite their investment of time and resources, Ellen and Portia decided to sell the estate shortly after moving in, citing a lack of proper equestrian facilities as the primary reason. Portia, an avid horse enthusiast, required land and amenities suitable for their horses, which the property ultimately could not provide. In an interview, Ellen mentioned their need for a more functional space for their animals and revealed that the couple has already moved to a larger, more accommodating estate nearby.
Their unexpected decision to remain in the U.K. full-time followed the political climate in the U.S., particularly the re-election of Donald Trump in 2024, which prompted their departure from California. Known for flipping luxury properties, Ellen and Portia’s listing of the Cotswolds home reflects their ongoing pursuit of lifestyle and comfort, paired with strategic real estate investment. While their stay was short-lived, the upgraded estate is now poised to become one of the region’s most coveted listings.
