Gondoliers fear Uber water taxis will crowd Venice’s. Gondoliers in Venice are concerned about Uber’s new water taxi service crowding the city’s canals. Uber launched its year-round “limo boat” service in July, offering trips starting from €120 (£103) for up to six people. Andrea Balbi, president of the Associazione Gondolieri di Venezia, expressed fears that the additional boats will make work difficult for licensed gondoliers.
