NHS staff are ‘sicker than the patients’

NHS staff are ‘sicker than the patients’. Half of all NHS workers suffer from poor mental health and a quarter have considered suicide, according to a support group Frontline19. Founder Claire Goodwin-Fee referenced the widespread issue of mental health-related absenteeism, which resulted in over half a million full-time days lost in a month. NHS Charities Together also found 52% of staff suffered anxiety, 51% struggled with low mood, and an NHS England spokesperson highlighted staff wellbeing’s crucial role in the Long Term Workforce Plan.
