Outdoors best place to exercise against disease. Outdoor activity could help prevent various conditions, including depression and type 2 diabetes, according to a study by the University of Exeter. The research, the first of its kind, estimates that physical activity in natural environments prevents nearly 13,000 cases of non-communicable diseases annually in England, saving over £100m in treatment costs. The study recommends pump-priming investment in sites such as parks to encourage physical activity.
