Supermarkets would be required to inform customers if product sizes shrink while prices stay the same or rise, under new proposals to tackle “shrinkflation.” The Liberal Democrats have introduced an amendment to the Product Regulation and Metrology Bill, which would mandate large supermarkets to clearly display such changes for 60 days. The move aims to protect shoppers from paying more for less during the ongoing cost-of-living crisis.
