Tide of protests over UK tourism in the Canaries
thousands of people protested against mass tourism in the Canary Islands. The protestors, under the slogan “The Canary Islands have a limit”, filled the streets of all seven islands and also demonstrated in London. They felt that the influx of tourists, mostly from the UK, is causing a rise in house prices, straining resources and blocking roads. They are calling for a shift towards a sustainable tourism model.
