YouTube has secured exclusive streaming rights for the Oscars starting from 2029, as announced by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences on Wednesday. The platform, owned by Google, outbid other competitors, including ABC, which has hosted the awards almost exclusively since 1961. YouTube’s contract will commence with the 101st Oscars in 2029 and extend to 2033. ABC will continue broadcasting until 2028. Financial details of the deal were not revealed.
