Zoe Hamburger is the new chief restaurant officer in the UK and Ireland for McDonald’s. No, really!
She has worked “in and around McDonald’s” for her entire career, and said her name has always caused a reaction.

Hamburger, 39, from Bethesda, Maryland, United States laughs off the coincidence. “What can I say? I guess some things are meant to be,” she said. “I’ve worked in and around McDonald’s for my entire career, and Hamburger has been my name my entire life too, so as you can imagine, it has always made people do a bit of a double take.”
Her appointment into her first executive role with McDonald’s and first outside America comes as the burger chain celebrates the 50th anniversary of its maiden UK restaurant in October. She will be responsible for the company’s 1,450 restaurants in Britain and Ireland, which employ 135,000 people.
